For some years now, there is an ongoing, international debate whether or not to return artifacts and natural history objects that colonial rulers took from the countries and regions they colonized. The collective term "looted art" or "looted goods" is often used for these objects. In recent discussions, the objects themselves as well as the question under which conditions they should or should not be returned are coming to the front. This special collection brings together the most recent scholarly contributions on this subject in the BMGN – Low Countries Historical Review.
